We are glad you are joining us for a virtual tour of A Children’s Habitat — a Montessori preschool and kindergarten for children ages eighteen months to six years. We are a not-for profit school founded in 1972. A Children’s Habitat is a member of the American Montessori Society (AMS).
We offer a warm, nurturing, child-centered environment based upon the Montessori philosophy of concern for the whole child. Our materials are designed to create interest and stimulate learning.
Since we are a unique learning environment, it is difficult to convey on a website what makes our school so special. In part what makes Habitat unique is the close knit community of families, yet another key element is what is frequently described as “the wonder” that takes place inside the classrooms.
While there is no substitute for an observation that allows you to witness the orderly, productive activities of a room full of independent children, throughout this website, we will share comments from Habitat families and teachers in an attempt to help you understand what makes our school so exceptional.
Please read on to learn more about A Children’s Habitat.
We are conveniently located at the corner of 73rd and Hoover Road in the Pleasant View Lutheran Church building. Although Habitat is located in the church, it is an independent, non-profit school that is not affiliated with this or any other religious organization.
