Programs
Parents may enroll their children in one of the following programs:
Toddler
Program: 8:30-11:30 TWR
Who's Eligible: 18-month to 3-year-olds.
Our Montessori-inspired toddler program offers toddlers a
transformative year of self-development in a atmosphere of
understanding, respect, and support. Our toddler program
relies on a thorough understanding of the unique
developmental needs of toddlers in order to construct a
learning environment which provides an outlet for toddlers'
insatiable drives to explore, to learn to coordinate their
bodies, to interact socially with others, and to expand
their ability to communicate with language. Our toddler
program is ideal for eighteen-month- to three-year-olds who
thrive in a slower-paced, intimate learning environment,
with lots of personal attention. Diapers are welcome! The
maximum enrollment in our toddler program is 10 students,
with a student-teacher ratio of at most 5 to 1. Many
children start out the year in the toddler program and
later, as they mature and grow more comfortable in a
classroom environment, move up to one of our daily
preschool classrooms. Participating in the toddler program
provides a gentle transition into the classroom with older
children.
Morning Preschool: 8:30-11:30 Daily
Who's eligible:
Students ages 3 through 6. (Potty-trained 2.5 year olds may
also be accepted).
Habitat’s program meets five days a week. All children
attend a morning session from 8:30-11:30 a.m. in one of our
two mixed-age classrooms (ages range from 2.5 to 6). The
maximum number of students per session is 22, allowing us
to maintain a 11 to 1 student/teacher ratio, which we
believe provides the optimal balance between enabling our
teachers to give our children individual attention and
encouraging our children to grow in independence.
Two-Day Extended Day Program (KG-prep):
8:30-11:30 three days per week, 8:30-1:30 two days
per week
Who's eligible: Students at least in
their second year at Habitat who meet program requirements.
Other parents may request consideration for their
children.
Students enrolled in the two-day extended day program spend
the morning in one of our morning preschool classrooms, and
then two days a week stay to receive an extra two hours of
Montessori education, led by one of our credentialed
Montessori teachers. The two-day extended day program meets
with our KG-prep program.
Kindergarten Preparation (KG-prep):
8:30-1:30 MTWR, 8:30-11:30 F
Who's eligible: Students at least in
their second year at Habitat who meet program requirements.
Other parents may request consideration for their
children.
Students enrolled in the KG-prep program spend the morning
in one of our morning preschool classrooms, and then stay
to receive an extra two hours of Montessori education, led
by one of our credentialed Montessori teachers. Afternoon
KG-prep meets with our extended day program.
Kindergarten: 8:30-1:30 MTWR, 8:30-12:30 F
Who's eligible: Children of
kindergarten age with two or more years of Montessori
experience, or who have permission of the instructor.
Kindergarten students attend school daily from 8:30 to
1:30. From 8:30-11:30, they participate in a mixed-age
classroom. From 11:30 to 1:30, they are with kindergarten
students only. They eat lunch at school and explore more
advanced topics such as democracy and the science of
apples. Our kindergarten program fulfills all of the state
requirements for kindergarten programs, and children should
leave it with the all the skills necessary to enter first
grade.
