Parent Involvement

Parent involvement is essential for the smooth operation of A Children’s Habitat.

Each family is asked to sign up for one committee and to be available on an “as needed” basis as a standing volunteer.

Am I required to volunteer my time?
No. Parents who do not wish to be involved in a committee may pay a $500 fee to be exempt from this requirement.

Ways to volunteer at Habitat:

Share your expertise If you're skilled at web design, finance, cabinet-building, fundraising, or anything else you think Habitat might need, we encourage you to voluntee to serve as a consultant to the teachers or the board of directors.

Serve as class librarian One parent in each classroom serves as the librarian, coming once to a week to school to allow children to check out books.

Give a special presentation to the children:
Some parents enjoy giving a special presentation to the children. Past parents have talked about making pottery; being a dentist; Korea; and Hanukkah.
