GROUNDED IN OUR CORE VALUES

The Montessori Method

We strive to meet and exceed the highest Montessori standards set forth by the American Montessori Society (AMS), through organized and individualized instruction, multi-age classrooms, and carefully prepared learning environments.

Diversity

Individuals are celebrated and appreciated for their unique qualities, perspectives, and backgrounds.

Joyful Learning

Curiosity and joy for learning are habits cultivated by A Children’s Habitat.

Peace Education

Kindness, empathy, and peaceful conflict resolution comprise and inform both our explicit and implicit curriculum.

Community

Inspired by a spirit of community and the power of collective talents, we focus efforts on building relationships and working with one another.

Stewardship

Just as we care for one another, we care for our broader social and natural worlds.

MONTESSORI MYTH: Montessori students do whatever they want.FACT: It's true—Montessori students don't have to stick with the heard, and teachers aren't asked to teach to the middle of the heard either. Open-ended materials and projects allow for a lot of independent learning. Students are encouraged to get curious, try something new, and work at a pace that allows concepts to really sink in. These habits take time to develop and as they do, students don’t just walk through their education, they fly!Our open house is today from 1-3 PM. Come see how we can help your child soar!
MONTESSORI MYTH: Montessori schools focus on common sense and life skills not academic excellence.FACT: Montessori builds a lifelong foundation for learning. For example, when a student begins algebra, they know how it's useful *and* they know how to do it. By understanding purpose and value in the world, students hone a natural curiosity to understand the significance. What does this mean academically? A strong drive to continue learning and big retention rates for what has been learned. That's the Montessori science.Come tour our world this Saturday, February 10, from 1-3 PM.
